Summer Youth Employment Program
This program teaches young people about environmental stewardship and personal development through hands-on learning experiences in nature. Participants develop practical skills, teamwork abilities, and an understanding of how natural spaces support both environmental health and personal well-being.

Program Requirements
- Must be 16-19 years old
- Must live in Pontiac, Michigan
- Must have work authorization in the US
- Must be willing to work outdoors in various weather conditions
- Must maintain at least 90% attendance throughout the program
- Must notify the Program Coordinator in advance of any absences or tardiness
- More than two unexcused absences may result in dismissal from the program

UP Adventure Camping Trip
When: Mid-July
Activities Include:
- Wilderness first aid training
- Wild edible plants for medicinal uses
- Fire starting without matches
- Making cordage from plants and essential knots
- Building log stoves
- Archery and fishing

Staff Commitment:
- Provide consistent support one day per week throughout the program
- Obtain supervisor approval to use work hours for program participation
- Notify coordinators of any participation requirements (such as internship hours for MH teams)
