Our Mission

Utilize volunteers talents, skills, dedication and willingness to help to collaborate with our staff into  providing culturally-competent support services to families in a holistic approach to improve their quality of life.  With a variety of programs supporting our community, there are many different ways to get involved with our mission. Centro is always looking for hard-working individuals to help with our various projects. Discover how you can become a volunteer:

Types of Volunteering Opportunities

Direct Client Support

  • Client Support: Front desk, filling out forms and applications, administering surveys, accompanying clients, interpretation
  • Education & Awareness: Teaching or co-facilitating a class and/or tutoring. Topics may include: citizenship classes, ESL, immigrant guide, financial literacy, LGBTQ awareness, parenting, life skills, and more
  • Caregiver/Childcare: Set up activities for children to play such as: story time, arts and crafts, sensory play, etc.

Indirect Client Support

  • Translations
  • Office work:  data entry, client job search, resources database and more
  • Social media and marketing: Creating Tikt-Tok content, take video and photography at events.

 

Case-by-Case

  • Events: Help with setup/takedown of tables at events, serve food, help organize material, talk to event goers, promote our services, recruit other volunteers, etc.
  • Building and Office Space: help move furniture; organize storage rooms; sort, create, and discard advertising material; help with the remodeling of the courtyard, and more.
  • Fundraising and Outreach
  • Donation Management: sort and organize donations

Join the Fun: Volunteer at Our Fundraising Night!

Friday, October 24th

Time: 11:00 am -4:00pm – 04:00 – 9:30 pm

Location: 91 N. Saginaw St. Room 100

Activities: We’re looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help make our upcoming fundraising event a success! From setting up and decorating, to welcoming guests, serving charcuterie boards and wine flights, and wrapping up with clean-up—there’s a role for everyone.

Be part of a fun, memorable evening while connecting with others and supporting a great cause. Your time and energy will help create an unforgettable experience for all our guests.

Volunteers MUST be 18+ years of age.

Volunteer with Us: Día de Muertos Celebration

Time: 4:00-8:00pm

Location: 91 N. Saginaw St., Pontiac, MI

Come with your family and celebrate this tradition in memory of those who passed away! We’re looking for volunteers to help bring our Día de Muertos event to life.

Opportunities include:

Monday Oct. 27th- Altar Workshop

✨ Event set-up and material preparation

✨ Welcoming participants

✨ Assisting with activities

✨ Event wrap-up and clean-up

Thursday Oct. 30th- Dia de Muertos Event

By volunteering, you’ll be part of a meaningful cultural celebration that honors our loved ones while creating a warm and welcoming space for the community.

Volunteer with Us: Child Safety Fair

Thursday, November 6

Time: 3:00-8:00pm

Location: 91 N. Saginaw St., Pontiac, MI

Children’s safety comes first!
Join us at the Child Safety Fair on November 6 at 5:00 pm at Centro Multicultural La Familia.
We’ll have games, raffles, safety experts, and lots of fun.
We’re looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help make our upcoming event a success!
